Public Perspectives

Research with businesses to inform local economic recovery

What was this about?

Camden Council commissioned Public Perspectives to conduct research with businesses to understand the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and inform post-pandemic recovery.

How did we do it?

The research was conducted over two waves. The first wave was conducted during the height of the pandemic and the second post-pandemic. Both waves involved a representative telephone survey of over 1,000 businesses, including quotas for key business demographics such as size, sector and geography. The quantitative survey approach was complemented by a series of in-depth interviews with targeted businesses, providing greater depth and understanding.

What were the outcomes?

The results of the survey were analysed by different types of businesses with the impact and recovery priorities presented in the form of business segments or personas. This helped highlight local business priorities and key initiatives to support local economic recovery, both boroughwide and also targeted to support those businesses most affected. The research has informed a new economic strategy for the council as well as specific business support activity.
